Why hello GD, nice of you to join me.....

Yep, I failed my GTT. The cutoff point is 9.0 and my result was 9.7. So I have gestational diabetes. woop de do. sigh. So I had an appointment yesterday at the diabetes clinic and the lady gave me a blood glucose monitoring system which basically means I have a little finger pricker thing and a machine with little strips that go in it, I put a drop of blood on the strip and it tells me my result. I have to do this 4 times a day - once before breakfast, and then one hour after breakfast, lunch and dinner. I forgot to do the before breakfast one today whoops, but my after breakfast result was high, lunchtime was ok though. So I'm also writing down a food diary of what I'm eating during the day and will take that to my dietician appointment in 2 weeks, and I'm also meeting with the obstetrician that day too.

So, not the greatest result! But hopefully we can just control it with diet and not have to have any metformin tablets or insulin injections. FX. At least they got onto it now and we will have the best outcome for me and bubs.

At my midwife appointment on tuesday she had a poke around and bubs is breech at the moment, so that's why I've been getting a bit of heartburn - her head is up under my ribs. But heart rate is still good, and she feels like a small bub at this stage. Which is good because with GD babies can tend to be on the large side which can make for complications during delivery etc. If my levels stay good then they might let me go to term instead of inducing me early but we will have to see how I go.

Aside from that, not a lot has been happening. I've been dealing with lots of baby clothes - so much in fact that they aren't all going to fit in her wardrobe and some will have to go in the spare room wardrobe!!

also our new chest freezer that we bought (and finally plugged in) wasn't working, the light came on but nothing else happened so we had a brand new one delivered yesterday - which does work. so YAY now I can start making up some meals to freeze and we won't run out of freezer space for quite a while.

Oh and I've been watching the horrible earthquake tragedy in Christchurch on the news, it's so sad! So many people dead and they are still looking for survivors. Thankfully everyone that I know that lives there is doing ok. phew.

well I think that's all for now....

Update

So I really need to try and post more on this!

Went for my polycose test 2 weeks ago and failed it :( so I had to go back to the lab last friday and sit the GTT (glucose tolerance test) which tests for gestational diabetes. This meant that I had to fast for 12 hours and then have a blood test, drink an insanely sweet drink that burned my throat and made me feel sick and wait for 2 hours and have another blood test. Hopefully will find out the results tomorrow at my midwife appointment. and FINGERS CROSSED that I don't have it or else I'm going to find eating even harder!

Work has slowed right down now again and I have been put onto 3 days a week. This is a bummer because it's meant that I now have less money coming in, but hopefully will give me a chance to rest up a bit and get things done around home.

Got a whole pile of baby clothes on the weekend from SIL and they are now washed and hanging in the wardrobe :) they look so pretty! and little missy is going to be well covered for clothes for like the next 3 years haha. Just need to go and get a few warm things for this winter, probably some merino vests etc.

28 weeks tomorrow! Third trimester eek! Scary to think that there is only roughly 12 weeks to go!

Random photography

So I found these photos on the comp yesterday when I was uploading my recent bump pictures, and thought I would just post a few on here. (Plus my latest bump pics)

Bumpy from 23 weeks til 26 weeks :)

Not too bad for my little camera I think!

Counting down....

So today we are down to double digits! (number of days left to go until bubs arrives) EEK! That is so exciting but scary at the same time. I feel so unorganised! and yet I don't think I'm doing too badly either....

Spent part of the weekend rearranging the lounge (well Steve did, I just watched and complained ;) lol) So now my bookcase that was in bubs room is now out in the lounge and I have all my cookbooks and gardening books and DVD's on it. The rest of the books are still lying on the floor in bubs room, so will have to get on to boxing them up and putting them downstairs. And I took one of the little bookshelves we had DVD's on in the lounge down to bubs room and it is now filled with some of my books that I had when I was little :) Can't wait to be able to read them to her! Although Steve keeps asking me if I have already started reading to her hehe.

It has been a hot and sticky weekend, which culminated in us doing not a heck of a lot! Although we did spend most of Saturday working on Steve's nana's house that is being built - I was helping him wrap the building paper. Luckily they had the roof on so we weren't working in the direct sunlight as it was so scorching! Yesterday was hot and humid as well so we moped around for most of the day and then decided to go out to the beach for a swim - was so nice and refreshing!

Well last week it was my birthday - I'm now officially quarter of a century old. Yep, 25! And was quite coincidental as I happened to be 25 weeks pregnant too! it was definately meant to be. Had a lovely birthday dinner on saturday (roast lamb nom nom nom)

Oh and my nephew was born a few hours after my last post on the 25th January. He is so cute! Made me very clucky, good thing I'm already preggers!!

The Day zero website is finally back up and running after a couple of months of it not working so have just updated my goals. I have got just over 800 days to go and I've only completed 5 of my list of about 58 things to do....so not doing great, but not too bad either. Must get around to completing more! (and actually finishing the list - supposed to be 101 things in 1001 days, only about halfway there!)
